Siida

I need help imaging my work 😩 so you won't see anything here until I figure that out. But if you're interested here's a little teaser:

Siida is a word used by the Sami people in the northern parts of Sweden and Norway. When I learned the term, it seemed appropriate that comes from the geography of my ancestors since it so beautifully names a concept that I have been grasping at for years. A siida has some official implications in Sami governance, but at a base level, it describes a community. As it was described to me by a Sami descendent, it takes its linguistic roots from the word for burial ground.
